A MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT JOHN D. FOX

Dear Members of National Law Enforcement Associates,

   I am honored to have been chosen to serve as President of this
prestigious organization. I plan to work tirelessly to continue the
great work completed by my predecessors and to build upon it.  In
addition, I plan to develop more relationships with other "National
Law" members, which have enriched my life, both personally and
professionally and which is the greatest benefit a member can obtain.

   These are difficult financial times, and the drastic reduction in
corporate sponsorship of our group as well as the costs of operating
NLEA have been discussed at length amongst the leadership of our
group.

   As a result of these discussions, I have set two goals to address
these financial issues. The first is to increase membership, which will
not only increase revenue, but will bring fresh ideas to our group and
also increase attendance at our events. The second goal is to email
the newsletter and other NLEA correspondence to our members,
thus decreasing our largest expenditure, postage.

   I would ask that each and every member help NLEA accomplish
these goals by encouraging new membership and cooperating with
the transition to electronic communication.

   Lastly, I have started the process towards providing the association
with a secure website. This will not only ensure the privacy of our
members, but will enable us to communicate more information
securely, such as the membership directory. Any and all comments
and suggestions are welcome.

   I look forward to the challenges ahead of me and to meeting all of
